North Shore Athletic Club, Beverly - Group Exercise Class Descriptions

BODYPUMP - A Rapid fat-burning class that uses barbells to five you the fastest way to tone and condition muscles! After an exhaustive study, BODYPUMP was verified by The University of Auckland as providing the fastest body fat loss of any fitness class.

CARDIO BLAST
CARDIO BOSU®
- Sign up is required! This high energy class uses large basic movements to get your heart pumping and challenges your balance by using the BOSU® Balance Trainer. Take your fitness to the next level!

BOSU® STRENGTH - More fun with the BOSU® Balance Trainer! Strength training exercises are done using the BOSU® to add an element of challenge. Come get your strength and balance on!

CYCLING - Sign-up is up to 24 hours in advance at the front desk.  This indoor cycling class is designed for all fitness levels.  Novice to experienced riders welcome, however, newcomers/beginners should inform instructor. You will be "guided" by the instructor through various terrains, including rolling hills, climbs and sprints. Enjoy upbeat music and an inspiring "journey." Pump and sweat your way to having a stronger heart and body. Bring water. Towels provided.

CYCLE & DRILL - After 30 minutes of cycling in Studio B, move to Studio A for 30 minutes of cardio drills; including boxing, squats, lunges and calisthenics. This class is challenging and fun for all levels of fitness.
MIND/BODY RIDE
- After 30 minutes of cycling experience 30 minutes of gentle yoga.
CYCLE and STRENGTH
- This is a 60 minute ride followed by 15 minutes of strength training.

YOGA - All levels welcome to any yoga class but please inform instructor at start of class if you are a beginner.
Power/Vinyasa Yoga 
- An invigorating class that integrates on the outer level ~ strength with flexibility, on the inner level ~ alignment with energy, and innermost ~ concentration with meditation.
Vinyasa Yoga (aka slow flow)
- Links poses together by coordinating the breath with the movement to create a rejuvenating class for students of all levels.
Kripalu Yoga
- Gentle warm-ups lead to a flow of moderate yoga postures in a meditative, safe style where the main goal is to surrender into the posture, relax, let go of your stress and heal.
Iyengar Yoga
- A systematic method of Hatha Yoga developed by BKS Iyengar, focusing on accurate postural alignment in poses. Specific progressions, modifications and use of props support maximum potential in all student levels and abilities.
Gentle Yoga - A 30 minute focus on basic yoga poses and relaxation.

PILATES - Core strengthening exercises based on the method created by Joseph Pilates.
Fit Pilates
- Pilates training using resist-a-balls and tubing for optimal results. All levels welcome.
Essential Mat
- Learn or practice the fundamentals of Pilates training. All levels welcome.
Essential + Mat
- An intermediate level Pilates class for those interested in the next level up from Essential Mat.
Intermediate Mat
- This is the most advanced Pilates class we offer. A challenging workout for those who are already comfortable with Essential Mat classes.

STEP AND STRENGTH - This class combines step choreography with strength training.  It is taught in intervals OR half step, half strength training.

FITNESS CHALLENGE - Mix it up! A variety of basic low impact moves, Step movements and strength training.

ABS & LORI CORE - Sign up is required! These powerful 15-minute workouts are offered to provide a quick but effective series of exercises that target the abdominal muscles. All levels welcome. Spend the next 45 minutes strengthening the other core muscles (back and hips) of your body by using a combination of floor work and standing exercises with various apparatus. Designed by Lori L.

CARDIO-KICKBOXING - Combine boxing skills with proper leg kicks and muscle conditioning and you get this powerful cardio/strength workout. Suitable for all levels, however, please inform instructor if you are new to class.

CARDIO KNOCKOUT - A highly advanced Cardio Class. Includes: 45 minutes of Step, Plyometrics, High Impact Aerobics, Sport Drills, and 15 minutes of Core/AB advanced training.

AGELESS EXERCISE - This class is suitable for the older adult, someone returning from an injury or someone wishing to "ease" into a cardio and strength program. All levels welcome!

BP TECHNIQUE - Learn how to execute all the moves from the Bodypump classes with perfect form. This will give you a strong base from which to lift weights.

LORI CORE - Spend an hour strengthening the core of your body by using a combination of floor work and standing exercises with various apparatus designed and taught by Lori L.

STRENGTH TRAINING - Strengthen and define your muscles by using a variety of resistance apparatus, including free weights, body bars, resist-a-balls and tubing.

30/30 - A half hour of cardio training combined with a half hour of strength training and stretching.
